Graduation 2009,
the 42nd Annual Commencement
This past spring, on a warm, beautiful, and sunny afternoon, Holy Cross College held the 42nd Annual Commencement.
The day was a celebration of the accomplishments of individual students as well as a great day for the College. In our transition
to a four year Baccalaureate institution, the College saw its largest class of BA graduates (37) and smallest group of Associates
degrees awarded (four).
The Student Reflection was delivered by Randy Ebright, Jr. '09, of Granger, IN who received his BA with a double major in history
and English, while the commencement address was delivered by Rev. Michael J. Himes, PhD, renowned Catholic author and educator.
Father Himes was chosen by the class of '09 because his classic book, Doing the Truth in Love: Conversations about God,
Relationships and Service is the basic text around which the Christian Service course at Holy Cross College is based. Father
Michael Himes was also presented with the degree Doctor of Humane Letters in Honoris Causa by the College.

An honorary associate of arts degree (posthumous) was awarded to Kevin W. Kearney, Jr. Kearney, of Granger, Indiana, passed away
on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the age of 21 due to complications from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Kearney was a 2005 graduate of
Saint Joseph's High School in South Bend, IN and attended Holy Cross College for three semesters until his illness prevented him
from continuing. Kevin's determination in the face of declining health was a positive force on the Holy Cross campus and an
inspiration to the students who knew him.
