Kevin and Angela Leo
Now that Holy Cross College has recruited many new athletes and formed competitive intercollegiate teams, has built a new home gym - the Pfeil Recreation Center, and improved our playing fields, new traditions are also being built from the ground up.
With nearly 100 official members and still growing, The Holy Cross Saints Booster Club is the newest of the new traditions. To mark the birth of this new organization, the college and its alumni club officially recognized Angela and Kevin Leo of Granger, IN as the first Booster Cub members. Originally from Austin, TX, the Leo's relocated to Granger, IN in the summer of '08.
"All teams start somewhere, most with humble beginnings. It is fulfilling for us to be a part of the foundation and support system that is helping Holy Cross athletics to continue its launch into a higher level of competition, said Angela Leo. "We look forward to the day when that goal is met!"
The Leo's are proud parents of three children. Shane, the youngest, is currently attending Holy Cross College and is a member of the hockey team.
The entire Athletic Department is appreciative of the Leo's for their continual ongoing support of Holy Cross athletics. "A lot of our parents, alumni, students, and friends are coming together to cheer on the Saints. Having our own teams to root for is a unifying experience for our entire community," said Craig Horvath, the College's Director of Development. "We are truly grateful to the Leos for pledging to help organize the fun."
Saints basketball, soccer, hockey, and lacrosse teams provide their fans with thrilling competition. And because of the College's size, the fans can still get very close to the action. While three of the Saints teams have already posted winning records, the basketball team's 2009 inaugural season was a tougher challenge. It is difficult to pull together a group of underclassmen and walk-ons into a basketball program able to challenge long-established college programs in a basketball crazy state like Indiana, and it is a project that may take a few years. While the team is 1 and 25, the players aren't discouraged. In fact, with the 2009 recruiting class, Holy Cross is looking to challenge other members of the new conference. It is clear that many of the Saints' young players will be bona fide college stars in another year or two. For the time being, the Saints Cagers have given the new Booster Club some exciting moments and close-to-the-action atmosphere that can't be found anywhere else in college basketball.

Many in the Holy Cross Family have heard that Kevin Leo recently underwent heart surgery. The Leos want to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts of concern. The surgery went very well and Kevin is back to good health and normal activity.
